Delta City Corporation currently has an opening in our Public Works Department for a Maintenance Worker. A description of the position is available below. TITLE: City Maintenance Worker II

DEPARTMENT: Public Works

JOB SUMMARY

Performs all or part of the following duties: a wide variety of street, water, sewer, parks and other divisional maintenance work requiring operation of some of the following tools and equipment: dump trucks, backhoe, road grader, compactors, water pumps, mowers, power tools, sewer cleaning equipment and other miscellaneous equipment and tools. Serves as a lead man on maintenance crews as assigned by the Public Works Director or Assistant Public Works Director. Repairs and maintains city streets, assists in the repair and maintenance of city water and sewer lines as necessary, assists in the operation and maintenance of telemetry and controls of water and sewer systems.

This job classification will require a certain amount of on-call (pager) duty that requires a 15-minute response time.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the close supervision of the Public Works Director and Assistant Public Works Director or as assigned.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

May supervise subordinate employees as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent combination of education and experience. Six (6) months experience in the operation of heavy equipment, such as a backhoe, road grader and dump truck with some experience in the use of manual and power tools.

The applicant must have a valid Utah CDL or a valid Utah driver license to be upgraded to a CDL within six months of hire date.

Applicant must be insurance, pass a pre-hire drug test, along with random testing as an employee with a CDL.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in general maintenance, construction and repair. Must have general knowledge of electrical panels, motors and wiring.

Must have skills in the use of hand and power tools and operation of small and heavy equipment. Must be skilled in assessing repair and maintenance procedures. Must be able to lift and move 100 pounds.

Ability to perform manual tasks involving physical strength and endurance under variable and often adverse weather and environmental conditions for extended periods of time.
